We are able to assess and investigate Life, Funeral, Disability, Personal lines and Commercial claims, Building Homeowners claims as well small and large Fire claims and any forensic matters. We assisted insurers extensively and successfully in 2021 with SASRIA and Business Interruption claims due to the unprecedented civil unrest in KZN and Gauteng. We also assessed and assisted with the unprecedented flood damage claims in KZN during April 2022 and beyond.

Len Coetzee

Started his career in the SAPS in 1986 culminating in him being a Captain in the Commercial Crime Unit for 10 years where he specialized in white collar fraud and syndicated crime investigations totalling billions of rand. He worked with the US Secret Service as well with ex US Vice President Al Gore’s administration. He received training in counterfeit foreign currency with the SA Reserve Bank as well as the US Secret Service. Len has travelled extensively internationally and also collaborated with Scotland Yard on Crown Court Cases, the Independent Commission Against Corruption Hong Kong as well as the FBI on multibillion-rand investigations.

Work History

  • He started his insurance career in 1995 with Auto & General Insurance setting up their internal Motor and Non-Motor Investigations departments.
  • From 1998-2003 he was self-employed and held various directorships in companies servicing corporate and private companies as well as the short-term industry investigating fraud, preventing fraudulent pay-outs of claims totaling hundreds of millions of rand.
  • From 2003 to 2010 Len was employed in management at OUTsurance & First Rand STI as Regional and Coastal Manager Claims Assessing and Operations and later as an Executive Director of OUTsurance Namibia.
  • Len then formed Censeo (Pty) Ltd as an Executive Director and one of the founding members to later become XTND and left after almost 10 years. Len was also Chairman of the Santam Fraud Committee during this period.
  • Len currently, is the co-founder and Joint Managing Director of AXIS (PTY) Ltd Assessing & Forensic Investigation Services specializing in Insurance Claim Investigations as well as Forensic Investigations on a National basis.
  • Len is an Internationally Qualified Certified Fraud Examiner since 2011 with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Austin-Texas- NQF Level 7.  He was previously Chair for the ACFE Committee in KZN. He was appointed to the Board of the ACFE SA as a Director in 2019 and then in September 2020 as Vice President of the ACFE South Africa. In September 2023 he was nominated and appointed as Chairman of the Board and President of the ACFE South Africa. At the 2023 ACFE SA Gala Awards Ceremony, he was presented the CFE Advocacy Award of the Year 2023. Len is also a non-executive director on the Board of TFS Forensics Africa. Len is also a member of IAATI – International Association of Auto Theft Investigators as well as the Southern African Region of IAATI.

Gareth Hall

Is a career long professional Insurance Assessor and Investigator having started his career at Mutual & Federal in 1999. He has been exceptionally fortunate with regards to his exposure to claims over the past 23 years. His experience has also led him to management roles with his past 2 employers.

Work History

  • In brief, he hails from a Civil Engineering background and was then appointed and trained by Mutual & Federal as a multi-skilled assessor. From Mutual & Federal he joined OUTsurance as a building assessor. He was then moved onto Commercial Assessing and Surveying, then to specializing in their fire claims cause and origin as well as quantification) before being made the regional Buildings Team Manager. From there he joined Censeo as a multi-skilled assessor/investigator. He was then appointed as their National General Manager Claim Services where he worked till March 2020.
  • He is also a qualified CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) through the International ACFE, and has his Higher Certificate in Insurance through the IISA.  In September 2023 he was elected onto the ACFE KZN Committee.
